Fifth grade science is an overview and touches on all aspects of science that include Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science. Students learn about cells, reproduction, heredity, classifying, plants, ecosystems, changes to Earth’s surface, rocks, fossils, water cycle, weather patterns, solar system and atoms/elements.
Sixth grade science focuses on Earth Science which includes geology, oceanography, meteorology and astronomy. The class uses hands-on activities as well was field trips to local science centers to reinforce our lessons
Seventh grade science focuses on Life Science. Areas of study include cellular theory, evolution, genetics as well as twelve major human body systems. This class uses hands-on activities as well as outside activities to reinforce our lessons.
Eighth grade students have an introduction to Physical Science which includes both Chemistry and Physics during the school year. Students are presented with a general knowledge of atoms and atomic theory, the Periodic Table of Elements and chemical processes. Additionally they learn about the fundamentals of Physics including motion, acceleration, simple machines and other forces.
