Monsignor Jaeger joined the St. Paul Parish in 2008. Before attending St. Thomas Seminary in Denver, he started his career in the state of Nevada as a Parole and Probation Department Counselor. He was ordained in 1990 and began his seminary career at St. Paul Parish as a Parochial Vicar. Through the years, God led him in other directions and on other assignments, until he was brought back to St. Paul Parish in 2008. In 2002 he was named Vicar for Clergy and in 2007 he was additionally named as Vicar General for the Diocese of Colorado Springs.
Why did you decide/what influenced you to become a priest?
My biggest influences were my father, and my brother, Bill, who was a priest. I was also influenced by other priest friends and Bishop Ray Vonesh.
What is your life/Catholic philosophy?
Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. In verdant pastures he gives me repose. Beside restful waters he leads me, he refreshes my soul.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Being a parish priest- the Mass and Sacraments.
What do you find are your biggest occupational challenges?
How best to serve so many with so many needs. The lack of genuine faith on the part of so many. How to continue to nurture my own faith and not allow so many other things to distract or take me away from what I should do.
What footprint are you hoping to leave to our world?
I hope to have influence over all, and to help people find their way of faith. I want to effect change in my own life and, in doing that, help others to have impact on their daily lives in the faith. And also, to get to heaven. :)
