Physical Education

The primary grades work on basic loco-motor skills:  skipping, galloping, running, leaping, jumping and hopping.  We also work on spatial awareness, body control and balance.  As the year progresses, they will learn proper throwing and catching techniques, as well as kicking and dribbling the ball.  They will learn to throw a Frisbee and participate in a tumbling unit.

The intermediate grades begin to work on more sport specific skills.  They will continue mastery of loco-motor skills and improve dodging and fleeing skills, as well as, catching and throwing.  They will play sport lead-up games, teaching skills in flag football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, badminton and softball.

Throughout the year our focus is to increase the physical fitness of all students while encouraging and supporting sportsmanship and responsibility in all physical education activities.
